Use it with your agent Paste this into Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any agent that has your daily.dev API token or is connected to the [daily.dev MCP server](https://docs.daily.dev/mcp-server/). `Read https://api.daily.dev/public/v1/plugins/HUNeDSQXP/skill.md and follow it using my daily.dev API token.` ## What it does Shows a rotating daily.dev headline in your Claude Code statusline, so you catch up on what developers are reading while your agent works. * Curated major headlines mixed with the community's most-upvoted posts of the day * A new headline about every 60 seconds, without repeating a post within a day * Headlines are clickable in terminals with hyperlink support (iTerm2, Kitty, WezTerm, Ghostty) * Honors NO\_COLOR ## Install 1. Add the daily.dev plugin marketplace and install the plugin: claude plugin marketplace add dailydotdev/daily claude plugin install daily.dev@daily.dev 1. Claude Code doesn't turn on plugin statuslines by itself, so run this inside Claude Code: /daily.dev:statusline Claude adds the statusLine entry to \~/.claude/settings.json. It asks before replacing an existing custom statusline. 1. Restart Claude Code or start a new session. To remove it, run /daily.dev:statusline again and ask Claude to disable it. ## What it needs * node on your PATH * No daily.dev account, API token or Plus subscription. Headlines come from a public, unauthenticated daily.dev endpoint, so they don't count against your API quota. ## What it reads and writes * Fetches headlines in a background process and caches them in \~/.cache/dailydev-claude/, refreshing about every 20 minutes. Showing the statusline only reads the local cache, so it never slows down your prompt. * Writes only the statusLine key in \~/.claude/settings.json, and only during setup. * Talks only to daily.dev. It never reads your code, files or session content. ## Telemetry The statusline sends anonymous impressions (which headline was shown, and the plugin version) to daily.dev, using the same anonymous id a logged-out daily.dev visitor gets. No code, file paths or session content is ever collected.
