Outside the EEA, deceptive patterns persist: Windows 10 setup prompts, Windows Search and Widgets, and default file types like PDFs still redirect to Edge regardless of user-chosen defaults. Even within the EEA, where the Digital Markets Act forced some improvements, issues remain: Edge stays pinned to the taskbar, Copilot opens links in a side-panel rather than the default browser, and Windows Backup silently resets Edge as default during Windows 11 migrations.
