However, 18 months in, MFG remains largely useless because it's designed to work with path tracing — a rendering technique supported by only a tiny fraction of games. Steam's top 100 most-played and anticipated titles barely feature path tracing, and Nvidia's companion latency solution Reflex 2 still hasn't shipped. The RTX 50 series is characterized as a transitional 'public beta' generation where key software features arrived late or unfinished, with the real payoff potentially deferred to the RTX 60 series — if game developers ever adopt path tracing at scale.
