# 3D Print This MRI Safe Torque Wrench If You’re Rich

**[Hackaday](https://daily.dev/sources/hackaday)** · 2 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

A maker named Sam Schmitz designed a 3D-printed MRI-safe torque wrench using a Formlabs Fuse 1+ SLS printer with nylon. The single-piece design uses a snap-over fin mechanism to limit torque to 0.6 Nm, survives 1000+ cycles within spec, and requires no ferrous metal parts. The main drawbacks are a painfully loud 125 dB click on actuation and the requirement for a ~$60,000 SLS printer to produce it, putting it out of reach for most DIYers.
