# 6 frontend techniques I wish more developers knew about.

## Summary

A rundown of six lesser-known browser techniques that help catch and prevent real production bugs: using Chrome DevTools' three-snapshot method to find memory leaks, combining abort conditions with AbortSignal.any(), safely cloning objects with structuredClone() instead of JSON tricks, styling parent elements based on children with CSS :has(), improving render performance with content-visibility: auto, and deferring non-critical work with requestIdleCallback(). These techniques apply across frameworks and are framed as strong interview topics for testing browser fundamentals.

## Content

A lot of production frontend bugs aren't caused by complicated business logic. They're caused by misunderstanding what the browser is doing underneath.

I just wrote about 6 techniques that are surprisingly useful in real applications:

🔹 Finding memory leaks with Chrome DevTools' three-snapshot technique

🔹 Combining cancellation conditions with `AbortSignal.any()`

🔹 Using `structuredClone()` instead of unsafe JSON cloning

🔹 Using CSS `:has()` to style based on child elements

🔹 Reducing rendering work with `content-visibility: auto`

🔹 Scheduling non-critical work with `requestIdleCallback()`

These are useful beyond React. They test your understanding of the browser itself, which is exactly why they're also great frontend interview topics.

Code examples and diagrams included.

> Great tip on the three-snapshot leak check. I'm turning that into a teardown regression test.
