The How To Make Everything YouTube channel built a bicycle using only Renaissance-era technology and designs from Leonardo DaVinci's sketchbooks. The wooden bike features period-appropriate ball bearings, a drum brake derived directly from DaVinci's notes, and a hand-made chain also based on his designs. While the chain proved to be a weak point preventing the bike from reaching riding speed, the project successfully demonstrates what a Renaissance-era bicycle might have looked like, drawing parallels to the early 19th-century hobby-horse proto-bicycle.
