Dominic Buchstaller built a custom Zigbee-enabled touch keypad for home entry using an ESP32-C6 microcontroller and an MPR121 capacitive touch controller. The slim, wireless device features capacitive buttons with numbers printed directly on the PCB solder mask, a 1300 mAh LiPo battery lasting six months, and a 3D-printed case with no visible screws. It integrates with Home Assistant and can also support Matter or Thread protocols with minimal changes.
