# A developer created an ESP32 device that releases encrypted files to trusted people on a timer

**[XDA Developers](https://daily.dev/sources/xda-developers)** · 3 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Memento is an open-source ESP32-S3-based device that stores encrypted files and releases them to designated users after a timed countdown. Users enter a PIN to start the countdown, while the owner can cancel it with a master PIN. Each user can be assigned specific files and individual timer lengths, enabling controlled data release without the owner being present. Built with an e-ink display, RTC module, and LiPo battery, the device can run for months on a single charge.
