Each stage has its own confidence, and in a pipeline those multiply - three stages at 95 percent is 86 percent end to end, which is a very different product from what any individual model's metrics suggest. Worse, the errors are not independent: a detector that misses a region means the downstream stage never sees it and reports high confidence on what it did see.
