A personal reflection on 15 years of using Vim and Neovim, arguing that Neovim's modal editing grammar, composability, speed, and programmability make it uniquely valuable compared to GUI-first editors like VS Code or JetBrains. A Love Letter to Neovim

I want to leave nvim due to it’s quirks and the legacy-heavy stuff it still has. Helix, for example, is much simpler and lighter. Zed is really good too.
But nothing matches it’s lua configuring, the weird APIs, the extensions, and how I can spend a day on a feature that’s taylored to my way of using it.
I keep returning to this crazy editor.
P.S.: The same could be said of EMACS, but I never got into it and have no idea how to even begin using/customizing it and will not start now lol.

Hard to configure, but once you get everything set up, you never leave it.

I’ve tried to switch to Neovim but it takes its time to earn practice. I use VS Code, but today it has become an overload tool, spcectialy due the extensions, that has become Neovim more attractive to use, at least to me.
