Jake Wharton announces ActionBarSherlock v4, a major overhaul of the popular Android action bar compatibility library. Key changes include dropping the shuffle between native and custom implementations in favor of a single unified implementation based on the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) action bar, decoupling the support library from the core library, restoring static activity attachment, and adding fully mirrored theming support. New features include split action bar, action modes, action providers, and condensed tab navigation. A beta is imminent, with a two-month deprecation window for v3.x users after v4's final release.
