Paradigm Shift, a Barcelona-based offensive cybersecurity company, has published details and a proof-of-concept exploit for a Boot ROM vulnerability dubbed 'usbliter8' affecting Apple A12 and A13 chips (iPhones XS, XR, and up to iPhone 11). Because the flaw resides in immutable Boot ROM code, it cannot be patched — the only mitigation is upgrading to newer hardware. The exploit requires physical access to the device and serves as a foundational step toward a full iPhone jailbreak when chained with additional vulnerabilities.
