# Additional Old Linux Drivers Face Removal Due To Noise From AI/LLM Coding Agents

**[Phoronix](https://daily.dev/sources/phoronix)** · 2 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Old Linux kernel drivers are increasingly being removed due to noise generated by AI/LLM coding agents submitting reports and patches for obsolete hardware. The latest casualties are the Moxa Intellio multi-port serial card driver (dating to 1999, ~2.2k lines) and the IPWireless 3G PCMCIA driver (~3.6k lines), both slated for removal in upcoming kernel cycles. Greg Kroah-Hartman explicitly cited LLM activity as a reason to drop the Moxa driver, noting the hardware is no longer in use and AI-generated patches would only waste maintainers' time. This pattern of removing dormant drivers to reduce AI-generated noise has become a recurring theme in recent Linux kernel development cycles.
