The Cross App Access (XAA) protocol is a modern alternative to traditional OAuth flows designed to secure AI agent access to enterprise APIs and MCP servers. Rather than requiring employees to individually authenticate and consent for each AI tool connection, XAA routes authorization through the enterprise's own identity provider (IdP), giving IT admins centralized control and revocation power. Auth0 supports XAA natively with zero code changes required on the application side — configuration is handled declaratively in the Auth0 dashboard. The protocol issues short-lived signed assertions (ID-JAGs) that Auth0 verifies before issuing standard access tokens. B2B SaaS platforms adopting XAA as a Resource App can also publish to the Okta Integration Network for broader enterprise distribution and co-marketing opportunities.
