Auth0 introduces 'Agent as Principal', a new identity primitive that treats AI agents as first-class identities distinct from human users and M2M clients. The feature addresses key blockers for enterprise AI agent deployments: lack of stable agent identifiers, broken delegation chains, privilege creep from static permissions, and poor auditability. Agents get their own lifecycle management via a Management API, traceable audit logs tied to a stable ID, verifiable OAuth token exchange with nested act claims for multi-hop delegation, and support for fully autonomous execution via client credentials grants. Currently available in Early Access.
