A study analyzing 25,264 agent-generated pull requests across 2,361 GitHub repositories finds that AI coding agents are reinforcing individual silos rather than enabling team collaboration. In 70% of projects, fewer than one in five contributors participated in agentic workflows, and 79% of agentic PRs were reviewed and modified by the same developer. Experts warn that junior engineers may lack the judgment to evaluate agent suggestions, and that organizations are leaving individuals to figure out AI tools alone. Recommended fixes include team-level learning spaces, shared showcases, and tracking code quality rather than raw volume or token consumption.
