AI made design faster, but did it make it less intentional?

AI tools like Figma Make have dramatically accelerated design execution, but speed can undermine intentionality. AI-generated screens often look polished yet lack edge case handling, system-level coherence, and awareness of product history or technical constraints. The real bottleneck has shifted from generating ideas to evaluating them critically. Designers must preserve deliberate review habits, challenge AI outputs, plan for edge and error states, conduct system-wide impact reviews, and treat AI as a collaborator rather than an authority. The designers who thrive won't be those producing the most output, but those applying strong product judgment to determine which AI-generated solutions are actually worth building.
