# AI model vs harness: which matters more?

## Summary

The harness (the scaffolding, prompting, and orchestration around an AI model) matters more than the model itself. A good harness with a weaker model still yields results, while a poor harness wastes even the most capable model. Models are relatively interchangeable; harnesses are not.
