MIT has appointed Akirah Bradley-Armstrong as vice chancellor for student life, effective October 19, 2026. She joins from UC Santa Cruz, where she served as vice chancellor for student affairs and success since 2022, overseeing 800 staff, 2,100 student employees, and 30+ departments. She succeeds Suzy M. Nelson, who is retiring after 10 years in the role. Bradley-Armstrong's portfolio at MIT will include dining, well-being, student organizations, athletics, and residential communities.
