Amazon ups the ante in SA video streaming

Amazon is auto-migrating South African Prime Video subscribers (currently paying R79/month) to the new Amazon Prime bundle at R59/month, which adds free delivery, cloud gaming via Amazon Luna, and a base Twitch subscription. The move comes as Canal+ shuts down Showmax, leaving a gap in local content commissioning that Amazon has not committed to filling. Amazon Luna's inclusion in the bundle puts it in direct competition with Nvidia's GeForce Now in South Africa, though Amazon has not confirmed whether local AWS infrastructure supports Luna.
