**[Phoronix](https://daily.dev/sources/phoronix)** · 2 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Benchmarks comparing Linux 7.1 stable against a Linux 7.2 development snapshot on an AMD EPYC 9455P 48-core server equipped with a Samsung PM1743 PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD show notable I/O performance gains. The test system uses a Supermicro H13SSL-N platform with 12×64GB DDR5-6000 memory running Ubuntu 26.04. Linux 7.2 is expected to reach stable release in late August and will be the default kernel for Ubuntu 26.10.
