After ten rounds of patch review, Linux media subsystem maintainer Sakari Ailus confirmed the driver is in his tree and he plans to submit a pull request for Linux 7.2. Until now, users relied on Ubuntu OEM kernels with out-of-tree patches. The driver is notable for not requiring closed-source user-space libraries, unlike Intel's recent IPU implementations.
