That's $87–$115 less than the 7800X3D depending on where you shop, and it's currently the cheapest way to get AMD's 3D V-Cache technology. The catch is clock speed. Compared to the 7800X3D, the 7700X3D runs a 200 MHz lower base clock and a 500 MHz lower max boost, topping out at 4.5 GHz. Everything else — the 96 MB L3 cache (104 MB total with L2), TDP, and voltage — is essentially the same chip. ## Gaming performance In practice, the clock speed difference matters less than you'd expect. In titles like Cyberpunk 2077, the 7700X3D comes close to the 7800X3D and other pricier X3D chips. The large cache does most of the heavy lifting in gaming workloads, and the 7700X3D has the same cache configuration as its more expensive sibling. For eSports titles and less demanding games, the gap narrows further.
