# An ex-Sega engineer made a CRT emulator so realistic, you can hit it to fix visual problems

**[XDA Developers](https://daily.dev/sources/xda-developers)** · 2 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

An ex-Sega engineer known as GOROman built a macOS Famicom (NES) emulator that captures the VHF RF output from a real Famicom console via a HackRF One Software Defined Radio and renders it with realistic CRT TV visual effects. Taking nostalgia a step further, the emulator also listens via microphone for the sound of someone physically hitting the top of the monitor, then corrects visual glitches in response — recreating the classic 'percussive maintenance' experience of 1990s CRT televisions.
