Android 17 AOSP is here

Android 17 source code is now live on AOSP and rolling out to Pixel devices. Key updates for developers include: AppFunctions enabling apps to expose capabilities to AI agents via Android MCP (Gemini integration in private preview); mandatory adaptive design for large screens over 600dp when targeting the new SDK; stricter app memory limits with new tooling like R8 configuration analyzer and LeakCanary in Android Studio Panda; privacy improvements including session-based permissions, new pickers for contacts and location, and Post-Quantum Cryptography support; and pro-quality media features including Eclipsa Video HDR standard, RAW14 image format, and vendor-defined camera extensions.
