# Announcing Istio 1.29.6

## Summary

Istio 1.29.6 is a patch release fixing five bugs: EXIT_ON_ZERO_ACTIVE_CONNECTIONS not firing on ambient ingress gateways and waypoints due to HBONE internal listener connection counting; HBONE capability not propagating to auto-registered WorkloadEntry resources for non-Kubernetes workloads; a deadlock in the ambient CNI node agent caused by concurrent pod deletion and ztunnel reconnection; a memory leak in Istiod where needResync entries for failed pod IPs were never cleaned up; and cross-network traffic through the east-west gateway being blocked by a spurious deny-all RBAC filter when L7 AuthorizationPolicies are present.
