# Announcing Open Federation

## Summary

Today is the first day of the WunderGraph launch week, it's our first launch week actually. Today marks the beginning of a new era for GraphQL. The goal of Open Federation is to enable the GraphQL ecosystem to build federated GraphQL APIs without having to rely on Apollo's proprietary technology.
