# Announcing the Headless 360 MCP Server Beta

**[Salesforce Developers Blog](https://daily.dev/sources/salesforcedevs)** · 6 min read · 3 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Salesforce has launched the Headless 360 MCP Server in Beta, a new Model Context Protocol server that exposes Salesforce platform capabilities to AI agents and MCP clients through just four tools: Discover, Describe, Dispatch, and Dispatch Read Only. Rather than exposing thousands of individual API endpoints, the server uses a semantic search-backed skill library (starting with ~100 skills, growing to thousands) to let agents find and execute complex Salesforce setup and integration operations. Security is enforced through standard Salesforce permissions, FLS, sharing rules, and audit trails. Initial skills cover user management, Apex triggers, event-driven integrations, and named credentials. Admins can activate it directly from Salesforce Setup.

## Questions this post answers

### What is the Salesforce Headless 360 MCP Server and how does it expose Salesforce features to AI agents?

It is a hosted MCP server, now in Beta since early July, that exposes Salesforce's platform capabilities to AI agents through only four tools instead of thousands of individual API endpoints. The tools are Discover, which semantically searches a vector index of skills; Describe, which returns the API contract and ordered steps for a chosen skill; Dispatch, which executes the skill; and Dispatch Read Only for read-only actions.

### How does Salesforce enforce permissions when an AI agent uses the Headless 360 MCP Server to make changes?

Every transaction runs as the authenticated user through an external client app scoped with the mcp_api permission, so existing CRUD, field-level security, sharing rules, profile permissions, and permission sets all still apply. If an action isn't permitted for that user in Salesforce directly, the agent cannot perform it either, and the audit trail attributes the action to the user. Most MCP clients also let admins require approval before each tool call.

_Developers weighing agent permission models can follow guardrail patterns like this on daily.dev._

### What skills and tasks are available in the Salesforce Headless 360 MCP Server beta launch?

The beta launches with roughly 100 skills, mostly focused on Setup operations for admins, including managing users (create, deactivate, freeze, reset passwords, assign permission sets), reading/writing/deploying Apex triggers, building event-driven integrations (platform events, Change Data Capture, event relays), and creating named credentials. Thousands more skills are planned, generated using an internal tool called the Headless 360 Factory.
