Opus 5 outperforms Fable 5 on several benchmarks while being cheaper and less restrictive. It is exempt from the 30-day data retention policy that applies to Fable and Mythos models. Safety classifiers are expected to trigger 85% less often compared to Fable 5. Anthropic is also introducing an Automatic Fallbacks beta feature, which routes requests to a less powerful model instead of returning an error when a safety classifier is triggered.
