# Anthropic rolls out Claude Fable 5, but it's available for a limited time

## Summary

Anthropic is rolling out Claude Fable 5, a safer consumer-facing version of its powerful Mythos model class. Fable 5 includes strict guardrails that redirect sensitive queries (offensive cybersecurity, biology, chemistry) to the older Opus 4.8 model, while the unrestricted Mythos 5 remains limited to vetted partners like government cyberdefenders. Fable 5 is free for Pro, Max, and Enterprise users until June 22, after which it switches to usage-based pricing. The model is extremely compute-intensive — in testing, it exhausted a $100 Max subscription's daily token allowance in just 9 minutes when used with the new Workflow mode at high thinking effort, roughly 2x faster than Opus even in casual use.

> It's not "available for a limited time" - it's out permanently...? It just switches pricing models (though Anthropic says they may re-incude it into Pro/Max plans in the future depending on capacity).
