Three metrics are presented: an AI R&D Automation Index tracking how much of Anthropic's own research is performed by Claude (as of August 2026, Claude 'leads' 26% of AI R&D work and over 90% is at or above 'collaborates'); oversight statistics for roughly 30,000 concurrent AI agents operating on Anthropic's internal systems, including monitor coverage, review latency, and blocking/escalation rates; and a breakdown of compute allocation showing about 6% of AI R&D compute and 12% of AI-driven AI R&D compute went to safety work over a sampled week.
