NASA successfully launched Artemis II, a 10-day crewed lunar test mission carrying four astronauts — Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen — aboard the Orion spacecraft atop the Space Launch System rocket. The mission, which will not land on the moon, marks the first crewed flight of the Orion capsule and will take the crew farther from Earth than any humans before them. It includes the first woman and first person of color to travel into cislunar space. After a flawless liftoff from Kennedy Space Center, Orion entered Earth orbit with all solar arrays deployed successfully. The translunar injection burn is scheduled for flight day two.
