Automating Design System Re-Skins with Claude and Figma MCP

A design agency reduced client brand application from a half-day task to two to four hours by combining Claude AI with Figma MCP and a structured three-layer token architecture. The workflow uses a style tile as a single source of truth and four discrete prompts: inventory/mapping (read-only), token application, typography application, and verification. Claude handles mechanical tasks like reading variable IDs, computing cascade order, running WCAG contrast math, and identifying orphan values. Designers retain judgment on contrast trade-offs, orphan resolution, and brand decisions. The process automatically produces a change report and WCAG audit, and any designer can run it after reading the SOP — not just the person who built the system.
