AWS Compute Optimizer has expanded its idle resource detection to six new resource types: Amazon DynamoDB provisioned tables, ElastiCache (Redis and Valkey), MemoryDB, DocumentDB (provisioned and serverless), WorkSpaces, and SageMaker endpoints. The tool analyzes service-specific utilization metrics — such as consumed capacity, cache hits, active connections, and CPU utilization — over a configurable lookback period to flag unused resources. Idle recommendations, along with estimated savings, are surfaced in the console and accessible across all AWS accounts via the Cost Optimization Hub.
