AWS Step Functions now integrates with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore's managed harness (currently in preview) to add AI agent reasoning steps directly into workflows. You can declare agents via configuration specifying model, tools, and behavior, then run them in parallel or sequence within a single workflow. Features include human approval gates, per-invocation overrides (model, system prompt, tools), session-based context persistence across executions, and full observability via CloudWatch with token usage and agent turn details. The integration is available in four AWS regions with standard Step Functions and Bedrock pricing.
