Google announces its first custom Arm-based CPU called Axion, which promises better performance and energy efficiency than current-generation x86-based instances in the cloud. Axion is underpinned by Titanium, a system of purpose-built custom silicon microcontrollers and offloads. It will be available to customers later this year and can be used in various managed services.
