The unit will bring together nearly 300 employees across Los Angeles and Hangzhou, oversee Mattel's existing mobile games, publish new free-to-play smartphone titles, and produce original experiences on UGC platforms like Roblox and Fortnite. The move follows Mattel's $318 million acquisition of mobile studio Mattel163 from NetEase, whose portfolio (UNO!, UNO Wonder, Phase 10, Skip) has amassed over 550 million downloads and roughly 20 million monthly active players since 2018.
