Base44, an AI-powered app-building platform acquired by Wix for $80M, has launched Base One — its first proprietary AI model fine-tuned specifically for vibe coding web applications. Rather than relying on frontier models like Claude or GPT, Base44 trained a narrow model using reinforcement learning on real platform tasks, betting that domain-specific optimization outperforms generalist models for its use case. The approach also reduces inference costs and vendor dependency. Base One is already in production, with larger models and deeper product integration planned.
