Biological Twins, Pothole-Filling Robots, and Animal Translators: CCC Visioning Improv at the CRA Summit » CCC Blog

At the CRA Summit in Prior Lake, MN, the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) hosted a visioning improvisation session called 'Yes, and: Computing Visioning Improv,' drawing 57 participants. Using a card game called Speculative Execution, small teams combined computing substrates (e.g., robotics, heterogeneous computing) with application domains (e.g., infrastructure maintenance, email) to pitch speculative ideas. Winning pitches included autonomous pothole-filling robots and an 'executable email' system that filters messages by relevance. The Speculative Execution card game is available as a free PDF download for use in computing departments.
