The pitch is real: instead of running one agent at a time, you spin up a team of them with shared context, persistent memory, and a full audit trail of who did what. That last part is genuinely novel. No other tool right now gives you a clean record of which agent made which decision, which matters a lot if you're running agents on anything that touches production. But the problems are hard to ignore. The token costs are brutal — one reviewer clocked a simple greeting at 31,000 tokens versus roughly 4,000 in Claude Code. Agents stall mid-task and need human nudging to continue. There's no end-to-end encryption and no per-channel access controls, which makes the "team workspace" framing feel premature. Matt Shumer tried it and couldn't get agents to respond at all. The hype side of the discourse is doing what hype does. "The future of AI," "100x productivity," "mind blowing work" — the usual. Some of that is probably genuine excitement about the concept rather than the current product, which is fair. The concept is good. For solo developers right now, Claude Code or Codex alone is faster and cheaper. Where Buzz might actually earn its keep is in team settings where accountability matters — knowing which agent touched what, and being able to review it. That's an unsolved problem and Buzz is at least pointed at it. It's a v0.5 product and it shows.
