# Bluetooth Shock Collar Keeps Wearer On Task

**[Hackaday](https://daily.dev/sources/hackaday)** · 2 min read · 1 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

A developer frustrated with doomscrolling reverse-engineered the Bluetooth protocol of a smartphone-controlled electric-shock dog collar and wired it up to a Python script and web server on his laptop, triggered by MacroDroid whenever his phone usage matched his personal definition of doomscrolling. Testing the setup on his own leg, even a low shock setting was painful enough that he flung his phone across the room and became reluctant to try again, so he's now considering a less punishing audible alarm instead.
