Build Production-Ready Agents with the GitHub Copilot Harness and Agent Framework

Microsoft Agent Framework now offers a stable GitHub Copilot Agent integration for both .NET and Python, enabling developers to use GitHub Copilot's agentic harness (shell execution, file operations, URL fetching, MCP tools) as the execution engine while layering in Agent Framework capabilities like observability, middleware, human-in-the-loop approval workflows, and custom tool registration. The integration supports session management, MCP server configuration (local stdio and remote HTTP), permission-gated capabilities, OpenTelemetry tracing, and custom instruction directories. Getting started requires an active GitHub Copilot subscription, the Copilot CLI, and installing the respective NuGet or pip package.
