The motorized parabolic dish, originally designed for TV satellite tracking, is repurposed as an X-band scanning radar antenna. An 850 MHz signal is injected via SDR, up-converted to 10.4 GHz by the dome's LNB, and transmitted toward weather phenomena. Return echoes are down-converted and displayed on a Plan Position Indicator (PPI) screen, with detection ranges up to 40 km for heavy rain and 60 km for supercell hail cores.
