Creative teams lose vast amounts of time to search because folders, tags, and keyword search all break down as projects scale: folder structures diverge across teams, tagging discipline erodes under deadline pressure, and keyword search fails on vocabulary mismatch between how files are described and how people search for them. The proposed fix is treating retrieval as a distinct problem from organization, combining semantic similarity, keyword matching, and metadata filters via a two-phase ingestion-then-retrieval pipeline, using Weaviate as the implementation example. The next post in the series will cover data ingestion and building a structured manifest from a messy creative archive.
