# Omarchy Quattro: One Year In — Part 3

## Summary

A year-plus daily driver review of Omarchy, an Arch Linux based distro built by DHH, focusing on the newly released Quattro (4.0) version. The author highlights the unified Quickshell-based interface (replacing Waybar, Walker, Mako, SwayOSD, hyprlock, hypridle, swaybg, polkit-gnome with a single coherent shell), a new plugin marketplace with 3000 plugins in three weeks, a faster fuzzy-search launcher, deep OS customization, agent/AI integration, a bespoke Omarchy Linux kernel, and a sub-minute (even 9-second) installer. The author argues Omarchy is not trying to be a better macOS or Windows but a new kind of malleable, agentic OS, contrasting it favorably with recent macOS/Windows UI and privacy missteps.

> Replacing Waybar, Walker, Mako, SwayOSD, hyprlock, hypridle, swaybg and polkit-gnome with one Quickshell-based shell is the change that actually matters here, and it is worth naming why: the cost of a tiling setup was never the tiling, it was that eight independently-versioned components each had their own config language and their own way of breaking after an update. Consolidating that is a bigger usability win than any individual feature.

A marketplace that grows that fast on a malleable OS is an enormous amount of unreviewed code with deep system access, and “agentic OS” makes that surface wider rather than narrower.
