# ByteDance and Oracle are using Arm’s in-house AGI CPU, completing the hyperscaler-x86 exit

Arm CEO René Haas confirmed at Computex that ByteDance and Oracle are now customers for AGI, Arm's first in-house data-centre CPU, joining Meta. This marks a significant strategic shift for Arm from a CPU IP licensor to a finished silicon vendor, directly competing with Intel's Xeon and AMD's EPYC lines. The AGI chip is co-designed with Meta and built on TSMC's 3nm N3P process, with Arm projecting $15bn in chip sales by 2031. With every major AI data-centre buyer now committed to Arm-based silicon in some form — including Nvidia's Vera CPU and Snowflake's $6bn AWS Graviton commitment — the analysis concludes that x86 incumbents have effectively lost the hyperscaler CPU market. A key risk for Arm is whether selling finished silicon will cannibalize its own IP-licensing revenue from hyperscalers that previously built custom Arm-based chips.
