The buyout derecognised a negative non-controlling interest of €37-million, which bypassed the income statement and came directly off Canal+ shareholders' equity. The acquisition gave Canal+ sole ownership, removing the need to negotiate closure steps with a partner whose interests had diverged. Showmax's wind-down cost was substantial: €69-million in content costs including a €44-million impairment, and €70-million in cash consumption during the period. A €48-million tax gain turned an operating loss into a net gain of €15-million. For the full 2025 year, Showmax dragged €92-million off Canal+'s combined adjusted Ebit.
