# Capacitor 8.5 Released

## Summary

Capacitor 8.5 has been released as a breaking minor version that adopts the UIScene lifecycle required by iOS 27 and Xcode 27. For most apps, migration is a single CLI command (`npx cap migrate`). Apps already published to the App Store are unaffected, but developers who want to build against the new Xcode 27 SDK must migrate. A manual migration path is also available via the `capacitor-uiscene-migrator` skill for edge cases. This change was pulled forward from the planned Capacitor 9 roadmap to unblock developers during the iOS 27 beta period. Capacitor 9 will continue the multi-window/foldable screen work later in the year.
