Capsa AI, a London and New York startup, has raised $18M in Series A funding to build an 'AI operating system' for private equity firms. The platform indexes scattered fund data — CRM entries, emails, SharePoint files, deal memos — into a single searchable layer, enabling agentic AI across sourcing, due diligence, portfolio monitoring, and back-office tasks. The company targets a $15tn private capital market where much data is still managed via spreadsheets and email, costing the industry an estimated $35bn annually in manual search. Capsa reports 14x year-on-year revenue growth, 100% renewal rate, and 122%+ net dollar retention from a 14-person team. The round will fund US expansion and engineering/sales hiring. Key open question is defensibility, as Capsa relies on foundation models it doesn't own rather than proprietary AI.
