SAP is celebrating 15 years of membership in the OpenJDK project, having joined on July 14, 2011. The post traces SAP's Java involvement back to 2000, including the acquisition of InQMy, development of SAPJVM, and participation in the Java Community Process. Key OpenJDK contributions highlighted include the PowerPC/AIX port (JEP 175), Helpful NullPointerExceptions (JEP 358), Elastic Metaspace (JEP 387), and JFR CPU-Time Profiling (JEP 509). SAP also maintains OpenJDK 17, 21, and 25 update release lines and holds a seat on the JCP Executive Committee. Additional ecosystem contributions include JFR tooling, async-profiler packaging, and an open-source IntelliJ profiler plugin.
